Voyager has entered the final lap on its race to the edge of interstellar space

Nasa Voyager Page [nasa.gov]

I thought I saw a mention of this a couple of weeks ago.. that or I'm psychic :) Maybe the sudden increase in the solar wind's magnetic field has been confirmed, which would put Voyager at the Termination Shock.

As we know, one day the crew of the Enterprise will come into contact with the insatiable Vger.

Basildon - where dogs carry flick knives and the SAS wont go after dark.

Youd prefer any aggressive alien to those lot.

Basildon district lies in the southern part of Essex 30 miles east of London. Covering some 42.5 square miles the district includes the towns of Basildon, Billericay and Wickford.

With excellent road and rail links to London, the rest of the County and South East England, Basildon has much to offer. Only seven miles of major roads separate Basildon from the M25, and the Channel ports and tunnel are within easy reach.

Stansted Airport is 25 minutes drive away and Gatwick Airport is just an hour away. Basildon is one of the most successful of English towns with a flourishing business community and a vibrant regional shopping centre.

More than 200 major stores and shops attract customers from a catchment population in excess of 1m within half an hour’s drive. In contrast, Billericay is a combination of historic and modern. It retains some of its old world charm yet has a thriving industrial estate and modern shopping facilities and services.

Wickford has undergone major investment in recent years with several new industrial estates being created and new houses built.

Some 70 per cent of the district is rural with large areas of open farmland and scattered rural developments with a population of about 165,600 located in the three main towns. Compared to the national average, there are more young people under 25 and significantly less people over 65 in the district, and ethnic minorities make up 3.1 per cent of the population.

When an otherwise erudite posting goes nowhere on its own, we allow a little hijacking. :)

If only there were a way to harness that kind of energy.

I read in Discover that the probes are still alive and functioning great, but NASA is shutting down the program that watches them to save a few million $.

NASA could move their Voyager program to Basildon and save some coin by getting soapdodgers to rotate their dishes.
