Hi All,

I am travelling to Greece and Italy in around 2 months for 5 weeks.

I will be in Athens for around 5 days then heading out to the islands for 10 days.

The rest of my time will be spent in Italy.

Does anyone have any ideas, must sees or favorite places that I should visit?

Cheers

I have been to several places in Italy. It depends what type of vacation you want to have. You can have a relaxing trip or a sightseeing frenzy. Italy will be hot in 2 months so think about that as well. On that note. Rome is beautiful and it might be a good time to go due to all of the happenings with Vatican City. It is a must see if you love all of the ruins, history, etc... If you like renaissance art, head up to Florence and see the Ufuzi, and the Acadamia. It is a great train ride through Tuscany as well. If you hit Venice, don't stay for more than a few days. There are lots of tourists and it is very expensive but a beautiful city, nothing like it in the world. I highly recommend seeing the Italian riviera if possible. Hiking through Cinque Terre is one of the best times I have ever had. It is much less known and very relaxing.

Hope that helps.

Jump over to Croatia for some days? You'll not regret it.

Both Florence and Scicily are amazing. Each beautiful, romantic and steeped in history. the food & drink culture is quite something - very relaxed.

If you're in Rome you have to go to Il Gelato di San Crispino for the best gelato in the world. It's just a couple of blocks from the Trevi fountiam.

If you make it to Venice take a side trip to the island of Burano. It's most beautiful little town you'll ever see.

No one giving props to Crete? I liked it, although I never saw the minotaur.
