Congratulations to Google on working out the difference between the Australian and NZ flags.

Something I wrote for another site:

From Australia, brave John Simpson came.
From New Zealand, our lads did the same,
On Gallipoli's shore
This untrained Army Corps
Lost their lives, lost the battle, won fame.

Did they have an ANZAC logo up yesterday? I didn't see one, but then I didn't use G.au.

Yes, an Australian, or a New Zealand flag on a pole, with the base surrounded by poppies.

Ahhh, missed that one. Bummer.

Interesting to see the Flanders Poppy, a symbol associated with Remembrance Day, making its way into Anzac Day more and more. Shame IMO.

The poppy has always been used for Anzac Day in New Zealand. The RSA sell poppies before Anzac Day. I just googled the history
The first New Zealand Poppy Day was held in 1922. The ship carrying the poppies from France arrived in New Zealand too late for Armistice Day in November, when Poppy Day is celebrated by the rest of the world. So, New Zealand held Poppy Day prior to Anzac Day instead. It has been celebrated on that day ever since.

Ahh, interesting. Certainly in Aus the Poppy is used primarily for Nov 11. The creep into ANNZAC day is happening at many levels. Oh well.
