This is real, apparently.

Someone needs to tell this guy about affiliate marketing.

Interestingly, that website was almost singlehandedly responsible for introducing the word "Chav" to the UK mainstream. The greater majority of us had never heard of it before.

Almost exactly a year ago, the BBC profiled the 50th anniversary of the baseball cap and the "Chav" phenomenon in an online article. They provided a link to the site above and within a week the tabloids were devoting their own articles and commentary about this, erm, unique social group.

responsible for introducing the word "Chav"

In its current use yes, but it has been around for some time as a coloquialism and from this form it led to the noun Chav or Charver. In it's original form, as a verb, you could been seen to 'Chav', although that would be likely to land you in trouble. The meaning before the onset of fake burberry and the hooped earing was; to take anothers property without permission.

i.e.

She chavved those boots from top shop
He chavved a copy of razzle from the 24 garage
We chav when no-one is looking
They chavved my bloody wing mirrors!

Etc, etc

Interesting. I'm surrounded by "Chavs" (by current day interpretations) in the area where I live and had never come across the colloquialism relative to "purloining" (:-)), nor it's current manifestation, until last year; must be regional in original useage?.

There's got to be a limerick in the making involving a chav with a chiv in the lav..:-)

You're right there. Soulless town famous only for producing the "actor" who use to play Ricky Butcher on Eastenders.

Had the misfortune to live there for a year (well Higham Ferrers actually). BIG MISTAKE!

Half the cars in the road were burnt out in the space of a year but worse than that was the NTL box was also torched one time. No bloody net access for 12 whole days.

Nice people - nice place. If you have a penchant for living in a cross between Coronation Street and Neighbours from Hell that is.

Worst time of my life.
