Is there life after alcohol?

Ten years of sobriety says so.

Yep. There suuuure is. :)

I was just looking thru some old paperwork and was reminded that ten years has passed since I went into rehab and quit drinking.

What a wonderful feeling...

...to awaken with an unclouded mind.

...to have 'things' again.

...to have my self respect.

...to remember everything from yesterday.

...when someone recognizes me and I them.

...to have a liver that was saved.

...to not have a queazy stomach all day long.

...to have a woman who loves me dearly.

And, most important to me, knowing I can live without it, but not her.

pendanticist - congratulations! Giving up an addiction is so hard. Your list contains many things that I now enjoy since I stopped drinking everyday. I still have my moments, though, where I enjoy a few - and then pay the next day. But I'm coming up on 5 months nicotine free and I know hard that one was to give up. Keep it up!

Where I'm at we say, "Happy Birthday pendanticist".
...to awaken with an unclouded mind.

I'm soon to complete two decades of sobriety, and most days (or nights) I wake up and still have to
figure out who I am, where I am, and what is the day of the week :) But I do know what you mean.

Cheers!

Congrats to both pendanticist and grandpa and all who are "quitters." For me March 4 will mark two years. Not a single regret.
