So I was checking out the iPod Shuffle page [apple.com] when I noticed this disclaimer at the bottom of the page

Do not eat iPod shuffle

Now I realize there are some stupid people out there.. but is this really necessary?

Perhaps they're worried that dyslexics will think it's iPod Suffle...

I'm a bonafide dyslexic - so don't start

Years ago when I carried a pager the instructions included the fact that you should not eat the batteries or the battery cover. These were AA batteries which I suppose you could swallow, but it would be fairly hard to do. In case you should happen to swallow the batteries a phone number for a battery ingestion hotline was included.

Me thinks it's a viral marketing strategy. Just in case there was a forum out there that wasn't going to discuss the iPod shuffle anyways, at least they can point out a silly disclaimer. Whoops! It worked. :)

Quite frankly, the ipod shuffle announcement makes me feel bad about my recent purchase of a 256MB Victorinox Swiss Army Knife/usb flash drive. I mean for the same price (100 bucks) I could have 512MB, it would play music, and I could take the whole thing on an airplane. <sigh>

Benefit of the swiss army knife? Easier to commit random acts of violence... ;)

Stab someone and take their iPod shuffle obviously.
