Laser Eye Surgery.

Personal experiences anyone?

I had PRK laser eye surgery about 8 or 9 years ago and was not entirely satisfied with the results.
I know I'm not alone in experiencing some difficulties but I would be interested in the personal experiences of anyone here who has had either LASIK or PRK.

Not me, but my girlfriend had it last year. I watched them cut into her eyes and all that, and then I drove her home. Its been over a year and she LOVES the results. I've had two other friends to have successfully lasered their eyes.

My girlfriend DID have to go back for a 'correction' surgery four months after the first one, but since then its been 100% and she is supremely pleased. Good luck with your decision.

My bro did it, he's happy but will have to redo it one day because his vision is getting worse. I have a friend who did it and is still happy. <snip>

There's a new technology called Wavefront mapping - which helps with the diopters AND the quality of the vision. Back a couple years ago when I was looking into it, I ran into this site that showed all the problems one could have that the doctors never stress, such as starbursts, halos, etc, that may seriously hamper your night driving. Wavefront mapping is supposed to help alleviate those.

Last week I went to a doctor here in the bay area, and this week I'm checking another one out. Wavefront is close to $5k(both eyes) whereas regular lasik is $3k, but I'd rather play it safe with my eyes...

Dad had it at about 67, and could barely see before. Now feels much more comfortable driving and loves the results.

I'm still to scared to do it. A good friend of mine had it and can't stop raving about how good it is. I worry because I went for a consultation and the doctor outlined how there's a small chance that it will go wrong. I'm the sort of person who only plays the lottery if everybody in the office is playing (because if I didn't play; they'd win).
