Excellent actor, one of my favourites. Sad to see him pass.

(CBS/AP) "Law & Order" star Jerry Orbach has died of prostate cancer at 69, a representative of the show said Wednesday.

Orbach died Tuesday night in Manhattan after several weeks of treatment, Audrey Davis of the public relations agency Lippin Group said.

Just goes to show you how quickly prostrate cancer can spread. According to reports on the tube, he was diagnosed the beginning of the month.

He was very much one of my TV & Film favs and I will look forward to seeing how much of the new show they end up airing. I guess he did a few episodes.

See 'ya on the other side, Jerry.

I was amazed to learn that he did song & dance on Broadway for a time and was the voice of Lumiere the candlestick in the animated children's movie Beauty & the Beast!

A very talented man, to be sure.

Despite an outwardly gruff demeanor and a face out of a '30s gangster flick, Orbach spent 25 years as a star of musical theater, introducing "Try to Remember" in "The Fantasticks," winning a Tony for "Promises, Promises" and reinventing the tormented Julian Marsh character in the mega-hit "42nd Street."

He got his film break as a New York cop in "Prince of the City" (1981), though he may be best remembered as Jennifer Grey's buttoned-down father in "Dirty Dancing" - the man who "put Baby in the corner."

RIP Jerry from a long time Law & Order fan.

I was really really hoping to see him the in the Trial By Jury series coming out.

I couldn't believe it when I saw a "in memoriam" at the end of L&O last night! I had no idea he had passed and when I finally heard the news this morning, I was very saddened. While it would be nice to see the Trial by Jury episodes he was in, I'm thinking that it might just be better if they didn't bring up his passing again on that show. He's gone. Let him be.

Kudos for an awesome career, Mr. Orbach.
