wow, my first "foo" post :)

I was just over at the USPS website and I couldn't find their holiday delivery schedule.

Anybody "in the know"?

I'm wondering if they will be doing normal deliveries on Christmas this year since it's on a Saturday.

USPS is always closed on holidays... but UPS or FedEx might be running.

Has anyone followed Robino's link:

In 2004's Holiday Closing they have 1st January 2005
In 2005's Holiday Closing they have 2nd January 2006 marked as New Year's Day.

USPS doesn't deliver on holidays except ..

in some communities they do deliver if it is Express Mail - depends on the city/town/burb. To be sure, you need to check with the local branch PO to see if they are delivering.

In 2005's Holiday Closing they have 2nd January 2006 marked as New Year's Day.

And X-mas is Dec. 26th!

Not at all. Around here this year Xmas Day Holiday is December 27, Boxing Day Holiday is December 28, and New Year Holiday is January 3 & 4.

This used to be pretty common. I understand they are not planning it for this year, but as noted some localilties might.

When Xmas and NY fall on a Sunday they are observed on Monday.

We're mail-serviced by a contract-route businessman. He normally delivers on holidays, because (especially when it's a holiday where gift-giving is common, like Christmas) his pickup and shell won't hold all the mail.... (His route, which includes where I live, is about 500 miles round trip per day....)
