We always lived so far "out" that my brother and I never had to deal with "a visit to Santa".... besides, there weren't really "malls" back then, just department stores in the big cities.

I DO remember being panic stricken (in private - my brother was a real little horror if he "knew something" like that about you....) by the floating things in the Macy's parades of the mid-50s.... as well as color movies like Snow White....

But then, the original Grimms' Fairy Tales didn't bother me at all....

A bit off topic this just reminds me off the underrated cartoon futurama where in the future there is a robot santa claus who is programmed to monitor and check if anyones been naughty or nice but its standards were set too high and everybody is classified as naughty and every Christmas people are in fear of Santa Claus who goes around trying to punish people your are "naughty".

Funny stuff. We saw Santa today and my 5 year old was all about him but my 3 year old wouldn't get closer than 10 feet (and even then he was climbing over my shoulder to get away!)

Hilarious images, some are a little worrying... and it's not the kids expressions either.

We used a Santa in a launch campaign this month. The split between kids who loved him and kids with a mortal fear was about 50/50. Poor old santa.

Face it, the bloke's overweight, has a limited vocabulary of three words - Ho! Ho! and Ho!, runs a sweatshop in a non-EC country, violates RSPCA guidelines on not making reindeer fly, hasn't seen a Gillette for the last few centuries (probably hasn't had a bath either), doesn't have a chimney sweep licence and is probably not even a member of the Chimney Sweep Workers' Association and leaves wrapped parcels around causing all kinds of bomb scares. Further, he has an unhealthy M.Jackson habit of hanging around kids.

I understand the kids' sentiment: Let's get the **** out of here, double-speed.

number 16 looks like a serial killer.

Obviously the parents are using the time honoured trick to save money at crimbo time of telling the kids that the guy in the red costume is a dangerous psycho who wants to break into their house and creep about in the night. So the kids scream when they see him and never expect any gifts.
