Its big all right - just yesterday 25 email pieces extolling the
virtues of a well known brand of Swiss watch.

The night-time boys and girls of email are pulling out all stops
for this one. Only 12 spamming days to go, Never before have I
seen such a frenzy of Unsolicited Delete Bin bound email.

It's Contest time and it's Huge
There are competitors from all around the globe,
from every conceivable spoofed email address
vying for the prize.

We all know that money is not enough.
That we all crave peer recognition and acknowledgement.
Spammers are no different. This is their BIG ONE.
The time to shine, to strut their stuff, show who really kicks butt
The timing is perfect - Just before and ending at Xmas
A one-only product contest - it's even handed, a real test.
Seems to be a minimum of rules,
However "enhance your sex life with Rolex" does appear to be out
or perhaps I'm just not on the appropriate $9.95 mailing list.

the pros v wannabes.
Africa v eastern Europe.
Ladies and Gentlemen to your email applications.

And don't be too hasty with your condemnations from behind your
spam filters . There could be gold in this for you
A feast of spam is also feast of advertising approaches and
offers. You don't have to be a spammer to recognise the art
in such lines as;

"Oprah owns one"
"Love - Rolex"
"Order Royal Watches Online"

or my personal favorite
"did you borrow my Rolex?"

Its all there to be savoured and to be learnt from.

Imagine the Finale. It's likely to be bigger than even Pubcon,
The envelope please - Glittering Gala evening in downtown Lagos.
The recipients coming forward to collect their trophies and
10 years of bulletproof hosting.

Maybe a vest in the same specification could also be useful.

A friend at work goes to Thailand on business occasionally.

He says that perfect _replica_ Rolex (and other top brands) are a dime a dozen there.
Prices are rock bottom, maybe $20 each, while the genuine article can cost thousands.

I'd like to know what percentage of spammed Rolexes are the real deal.

Why can't I just get one email a day that says

Perhaps you would like a R ole x or a fine Italian replica.
Or perhaps some Via gra, Cial is, or Super Via gra
Lord knows you need Photoshop to increase the image size of your manhood.
You can use the funds from the mort gage you already applied for to buy all this.

;)

Just received an email from our Nigerian friends, it would appear they have removed their money from teh country ;) and are offering to spend it with me.

Offer me four times the price of an item if Id ship urgently...... My was 'do you think I was born yesterday!'

The offer was way over what you would have been able to buy it in the shops for...

My favorite Rolex subject line so far was:

"Please - I Need to sell these Rolex Watches Before Xmas"

--

FWIW - I got a fake made in China Tag Heuer once for about $12 at a flea market - and apart from the fact that it felt "cheap" (didn't have the weight of a quality watch), it lacked the types of details that one usually takes for granted - it didn't have a crystal face, and chipped and scratched very easily and finally cracked in two - after being subjected to the "heavy abuse" of an office environment.

My stepdaughter does humanitarian work in China (among other non-western countries), and has done so for 20 years or so. About her 2nd or 3rd trip through HK on her way back from the interior, she bought her dad a R*lex. She was pretty naive - thought it was the real deal. We don't know to this day what she paid for it, but for his kids even the price wouldn't be a dead giveaway - they still think naugahyde is leather....

HOWEVER! It's still in as good shape as my brother's "real deal" which is a few years newer (for true "real deal" - he's an arrogant SOB with money, he never buys the cheapest anything, and bought his R*lex at the factory on one of his many trips over there....), and not only looks identical if you compare them visually, it also weighs almost exactly the same. It's not scratched, chipped, or worn.... and my my husband wears it daily.

So I guess it makes a difference how long ago the knock-off was purchased, and perhaps from where....

FWIW - if you can hear a Rolex ticking when you put it up to your ear, it isn't a Rolex.

from my deleted items folder

There's no battery in these replicas just
like the real ones since they charge themselves as you move. The second hand moves JUST like the real ones, too.

My Grandfather once gave us a fake Tag Heur he picked up from some guy on a beach in Asia. It looked and felt real and short of the glass face it functioned perfectly.

And FWIW I have not gotten even one Rolex email yet :O

Just for the record there are many types of fakes, from the cheapies to some very high quality ones.

I haven't posted for a while but having some experience in this area I'll share. My wife got me a Rolex from the Oyster collection as an anniversary present a couple years back (A real one, not a fake). Of course I loved the watch, but after a while I felt a little uncomfortable wearing a $15k watch around all the time and didn't want to seem unappreciative by not wearing it. So began my quest for a fake Rolex that was identical to the one I had.

First, forget about those $20 - $100 fakes... most of them are quartz movement and they aren't the right weight. A real Rolex has a 27 jewel ETA movement (sweeping second hand), which is seamless. There are some Japanese replicas in the $150 - $200 range that have a 21 jewel movement which is pretty good, but you can still tell it's not seamless. These models vary and many are pretty good, but you have to watch for a few distinguishing marks.

On a real Rolex the adjustment dial will have a raised crown (logo) on it, and so will the outer part of the clasp. On the inside of the clasp is the full logo (the word ROLEX with the crown over it and some fancy swirly crap surrounding it.. you'll know what I mean when you see it). Also a real Rolex will have tiny screws on the last couple of links on the band, not pins. The back of the case will have a hologram with a serial number. And of course the most obvious is also the hardest to find - the "bubble" on the face of a real Rolex that magnifies the date is part of the crystal. Most of the replicas have a flat face, or stick-on bubble which is a dead giveaway. If you run your fingernail over the crystal and it stops on the bubble, you're holding a fake.

There are some "damn close" Japanese Replicas out there, that are wound by perpetual motion and everything, but finding one with the right bubble and the crown on the adjustment dial is probably the hardest ste. I looked for a long time and didn't come across any that I couldn't immediately tell weren't fakes, either by the bubble or the wrong movement.

Ultimately I ended up getting a swiss-made Replica, it was about $450 - pretty expensive for a Replica, but the attention to detail can't be beat and even the most experienced Jeweler can't tell it's a fake unless they open it up. If you want to pass it off as the real thing and know that no one is going to spot a phony, the swiss replicas are the way to go.

Hurrah I go one!

REPLICA WATCH MODELS

Rolex, Patek Philippe, Bvlgari
Cartier, Gucci, Franck Muller

.. and 25 other most famous manufacturers.

[######.info...]

All for only $199.00!

So I go to the page to discover... it's ignored standards and looks band in Firefox! Looks great in IE except they misspelled Welcome. So of course I will not be purchasing from them- not because they're spammers but because they didn't cater for me as a Mozilla user. I'm never shopping with them ever. :P
