I didn't know where else to put this.

An industry colleague just showed me the ropes and it's one of the best free toys I've seen for ages.

Obviously this free software has been around for years, but I never even knew it existed. I suppose if everyone did know about it, companies like GoToMyPC wouldn't still be posting adverts everyhere in the fashion of x10.

There's a registration form on the download page, but you can download it anyway, even if you choose not to fill in the registration form.

Now I just have to think of a use for it.

yeah well VNC has been great for years, but this one you link to is yet another crippleware commercial spin off seemingly designed to gather "free" users and turn them into paying customers later. Not unlike GoToMyPc, eh?

Like most FOSS, VNC is free but tough to set up, but is open enough to support full encryption and everything else, all for free. If this company supported it for a fee, I wouldn't mind. But they present it as free sans encryption et al, for which they will charge money later.

If you like VNC now, get a systems guy to set you up with encryption.
