Hey all,
I am looking to aquire a program that would enable me to put together a multimedia presentation with pictures fading in and out and live action shots with background music and so on. All able to be burned to a dvd and played in any dvd player.

Less expensive=better though we will need it to produce quality and will pay for it if we have to.

Any suggestions?

The video editing landscape is littered with that type of software. You can go as expensive as you want. At this point I go on the cheap and use Roxio Easy Media Creator. However, I'm on the verge of buying Adobe Premiere (intermediate price).

On the mac side, iMovie can make it and iDVD can burn it with nice DVD menus. I got to "remaster" a graduation video and a collection of photos for a friend's parents. It was pretty straightforward.

Of course, I was digging around shareware sites for an hour looking for an app with my requirements before someone asked me, "Umm, why don't you just use what's on the machine already?" Doh! :)

Not trying to evangelize, just pointing out something you might not know is on your machine if you do happen to have a mac. :)
