Don't want to be writing the same book over and over, which I think I'm starting to do, can't quit while I was ahead, at least I can stop before I fall too far behind :-)
Time to start working on a new book. Tedster, thanks for your level headedness, balance, and fairness, I don't know how you do it week in and week out.
<added>damnit, foo posts don't count...</added>
One writer to another, you can only write so much in a day, and having a 500 page book fade off into the netherworlds of the archives doesn't quite do it for me... and I don't like doing rewrites.
I think the stuff here on WebmasterWorld flows pretty well, somebody comes along who wants to learn, starts posting, they learn, fade away.
I followed the advice, don't lurk if you want to learn something, post, that's totally true, excellent advice, but the point is to learn for me, not rehash stuff.
I came here because my searches started always landing me on WebmasterWorld, which means it was doing what I wanted to get better at at that point. Now most of my searches don't land me here anymore except for the odd thing or two, you'll see that soon enough the more you use linux stuff, this site really never took off in that area, though of course it has some good people, there just isn't the focus that's needed to attract the level you need to maintain something in a very active state.
Check your sticky ....I left you another address to stay in touch ...I mean It... I will be pissed if you don't
(And if the "sticky clear out" wipes it ... I'll leave it again ,and again )...
For now I'm saddened and I think that it's WebmasterWorld's loss..
And plus I need a friend I can trust with my system to hold my hand as I try to go to penguin ...;)..OK :))
Ps ..I feel privileged to be on your "au revoir" list ..

Goog point.
Think that's what linking to past threads is for. Also helps to see how certain technologies/algos have changed over time.
and how different moderators/board policies set tones for their respective fora, those tones tend to determine what type of poster is attracted to that area, that's a very subtle process, but interesting to watch develop over time. For example, premoderation helps clean out junk but also keeps away people who don't like restrictions.
mincklerstraat, LOL, if only you knew how close you were to the truth in that statement... yet another one of my favorite posters though, I've liked your stuff, it's really solid. Sticky me your email address and I'll be in touch.

Actually, I think that's what the site search [WebmasterWorld.com] is for ;)
site:webmasterworld.com keyword1 keyword2 member1 member2 member3
that's googling it, that usually gets me what I was looking for, but sometimes it's a royal pain finding things I have to admit.
In other words, the topic keywords and any members you can remember that posted in that thread, doesn't always work but helps.
Just a thought and you don't have to answer it otherwise it will bump your post count up to 1301
OMG 1301...it's an odd number now
If you do something like quit smoking it's usually a good idea to say, ok on day x I'm going to quit. Same idea with number of posts, it's a random selection that happened to fit into some other stuff that's happening in my life, if that stuff had happened some other time it would have been some other number of posts, I was actually going to quit at 1000 but some stuff came up that was pretty interesting so I let it go.
But there something else, when you think of how many words/pages 1300 posts are, that's actually a very substantial amount of writing, my posts tend to be long [ok, I can hear it now, too long...], this isn't the only writing I do, but it has cut significantly into the writing I do for myself, I miss the freedom of writing for myself to be honest.

Since you decided to stop posting at some given rounded (arbitrary or maybe random number) AND Foo doesn't count (by default), feel welcomed to post again in Foo without statistically breaking any vow, or bending any principle.
>>Would prefer, though, you just to request a mod to remove this thread and pretend it never existed.

When a message is placed in any forum system, you are granting a soft license to the site to use it.
Wanna bid? ;)
I always tought this game was about trying to hit the bull's eye on mooving targets, wich made it fun.
There is a stage in life where someone has "nothing more to say" anymore. Actually, this can happen many times in a single life, and even happen many times in a single day. It all depends on the meaning any gives to "nothing more to say", but when someone reaches the stage where he has "nothing more to learn", I am not sure if he can count as making part of life, anymore.
At any time, welcome back to Foo, since it does not count. :)
nice song goes
all you want to do is live
all you want to do is give
but somehow
it all
falls
apart
It's very easy to read, no clutter, that's something a lot of forums have problems with. Just a matter of turning off some features though, not rocket science, but still seems to be a problem for a lot of forums out there. That and chaos of course.
But at some point it's not a bad idea to take a look at yourself and ask what's the motivation behind continuing.
I will - mine came as close to an exit as could be, but I did leave a back-door open :) As it is, things are working out somewhat here in Paradise... but my feet are itching to be moving.
isitreal - FWIW I can understand your decision. All I really know is that when I see a post from you, it's most likely worth reading.
Best wishes and Thanks for the Fish.
Now HERE'S [webmasterworld.com] how to make an exit. Say goodbye, get the thread locked. :)
Sorry for the bad pun; couldn't resist! ;)
In all seriousness, WebmasterWorld is losing an icon. I can't imagine how many times your posts will be linked to in the future. Even though I know where to find you myself, it still seems like WW won't be quite the same place anymore.
Thanks for a lot of great posts!
