ebay seller claims to sent item but...

I 'bought' a signed photo back in July for $60 on Ebay of a film star in my favorite film. Took a print out of the auction including the picture.

Item doesnt show, guy claims to have proof of posting so paypal didnt return my money. I left it at that, just plain bad luck on my part.

Searching tonight, 4 months later, lo and behold this SOB has listed the same signed picture!

Either he's knocking them out or I got stitched up.

With 7000 positives I wonder how many others he's had over?

Any one else with this kind of problem?

How di you pay Paypal?

if by credit card dispute the charge. Then PayPal and seller have to document the charge and provide proof of delivery.

if he has "proof of posting" ask for the tracking number and track it yourself.

yeah it came from funds on account - having happened in July. Its dammed annoying ill just have to swallow it.

ebay will probably still have records of the old item. You might want to bring this matter to their attention. Or write the seller directly. That alone might be enough to scare him out of scamming.

No, no, no - that's way too British of you (I know, I'm one...). Get in there and complain to all - ebay, paypal, credit card company & the seller (proof of posting is not proof of delivery - so complain to the shipping company too).

If you swallow it, and the person is selling your item - how many other people does it belong to?

My other concern would be as to whether what you've bought is genuine. If it has been shipped and another one is for sale, it's hardly unique (in the case of any memorabilia, try to ensure that the item comes with a letter of provenance).

The fact that he has relisted it doesn't mean it's the same one.

When he gave PayPal proof of delivery you should have requested it as well.

7000 postive feedback is a lot....most scammers would have been caught by then

7000 positives? Is it possible to consistently satisfy 7000 customers? I would think 1 or 2 would have been unhappy. Anyone selling something knows you can't make some people happy no matter how hard you try. I don't trust feedback on ratings there. These guys must get in a ring together and fill up each others responses with nothing but positives.

I for one am not shopping there any longer due to fraud. Too easy to shop elsewhere.

Ive only ever had three cases of fraud on ebay in around 3 years.

I got my money back in one of those cases, I have made far more reselling what Ive bought to worry about the losses.

Price of doing business.

$60 is not worth swallowing. I would get my money back, being a cheapskate Northerner ;)
