A multifunction [sic] Toshiba TV that emitted an aircraft emergency signal triggered a transcontinental chase earlier this month to an apartment in the college town of Corvallis, Oregon.

Makes you wonder what other 'outsourced components' may be lurking in other electronics that the end manufacturer is un-aware of, eh?

How would one EVER know the full extent of what has been put inside the apparatus, before they buy? Or, ever for that matter?

Outsourced components, we did this for a firm I worked for at random I opened one of the items up and out a lump I mean lump of cardboard.

Opened some others... Same things it appears the PCB didnt quite fit so they filled teh cases with card.
