There are six equations published, but the article clearly states:

Deputy editor of Physics World, Dr Matin Durrani, offers an idiot's guide to the top five equations of all time.

Presumably the discrepancy occurs because the article was not written by the mathematics editor :)

Some people have not yet mastered the arcane ability to count on that second hand ... probabaly using it to count the fingers of the first ...

They should quit physics and get into computers where you only have to count to two.
