This begs the question, is the Nobel ever awarded posthumously? I can think of songwriters of "our age" who had as much, or more, influence than Dylan. Cash comes to mind, so does Lennon.

Yeah Lennon should be a prime candidate - his music is so complex and meaningful as if its a piece of his soul.

You never feel that his music was produced soley for commercial reasons.

A vote for Lennon is a vote for great mooozik.

Why? Because, IMHO, he is one of the greatest song writers in history. And as pointed out, he is also extremely influencial.

If you are looking for other great song writters, Lennon is a great example. I would also include Bruce Springsteen in that list. There are many others. Pretty much everyone can agree who are the greatest song-writers, but I guess it is personal taste to determine which is THE greatest.
