They only play HD when the shows are in HD, several of the stations are in HD 24/7 though.
Last year I only has 3 channels, so it is definatley getting better. I think it will be 2 more years until we see everything in HD.
What working family can afford to drop $3000+ on a TV set?
Besides, there's still not going to be anything on that is worth watching or that would justify enduring that sort of absurd expense.
I used to have cable. Just a waste of money so 8 years ago I cut it off.
Personally I get by with a 19" TV set rescued from the garbage, and a pair of "rabbit ears" antennae. I get about 20 channels and even out of these there is usually nothing on. My son uses it for his children's shows (he's 6) and my wife likes sports.
I can live without TV very happily, otherwise.
