Centuries-old surgical implements
Along with the probe and scalpel, the cannula and trocar have been the standard instruments used by medical practitioners over the centuries. Their design is simple and consists of a pointed probe or lance and a tube for drainage. Both were pushed into the body whenever swelling or inflammation threatened a patient's health, or when exploration of an inner cavity was warranted. The trocar, a perforator with a triangular-shaped head, was removed and the cannula left in place, to be used as a conduit for fluids going in or coming out, or the insertion of other instruments.

A sharp-pointed surgical instrument, used with a cannula to puncture a body cavity for fluid aspiration.

I was hoping that it would go longer, I've missed the last several weeks of quizzes and was really glad to be around for this one! (sometimes the answers just fall into place)

See everyone here next week! Gotta go find a good gizmo.

This set is from the 19th century if anyone was curious. I love ancient and antique instruments like this!

I thought it was from that era based on the wooden box, but using 'antique' to search by didn't turn up that image... although it did turn up the one I found in #7.

You did it again.

She's too damn good at this. Can we have a "handicapped" Gizmo quiz where Lisa starts on -12?

;-)

Congrats Lisa.

If Tiger Woods said to me "hey come on now TJ, I start the same way as you, just a guy and his golf clubs" do you think I'd agree to play him from scratch?

;-)

Come on Lisa, face it, you're a google images search genius.

Don't let her fool you. She works from the Gizmo Quiz Command Center [p.vtourist.com].
