OK here's the deal, i hope someone smarter than me can help:

I have 5 computers, all on the same network.

Today I woke up, and only 2 copmuters were connected to each other. I went on the other three, and those are connected to eachother, BUT all 5 are not sharing!

What gives?

I did have to start-restart some computers last night. I have run the network wizard many times, but still not all 5 are sharing.

Help! Please!

Can anyone help?

It's like i have 2 networks in my house. i have 4 computers. 3 are on 1 network. The other computer is on it's own network along with one of the other computers (weird).

I cant figure out how to get all 4 together.

How is the network set up?

Is it a Peer-2-Peer network through a hub/switch and then you are using Windows Internet Connection sharing, to share out a single internet connection?

If you are, try rerunning the wizzard. WIC sharing sometimes drops all the settings and you have to re-run the wizzard.

Shut everything down - computers/router/modem etc. Then bring online the modem, then the router, then the computers. If that doesn't do it, check the workgroup option (sorry - not up on windows specifically). It's possible if you have differenct workgroups they won't see each other.

Unless you had a windows domain set up, your windows network "elects" the primary computer on the network. It's very likley that you shut down the primary and then the remaining computers elected two primarys by "mistake". I have seen this before, and shutting them down and restarting worked. Just bring them back one at a time at about 10 min intervals. Everybody should be happy again and humming along. If you have further problems with this, you may want to try posting in the "webmaster hardware" forum, as that forum addresses everything from printers to monitors, and how to make it all work.

OK so here's an update:

somehow, all computers are on the network but one.

The one, is somehow connected to one of the computers already on the network, but none others.

BUT

when i plug the one computer not on the network, into a different cable line, it's on the network! Everything is normal. But then i bring it back into my office and...it's only connected to one computer again.

What gives?!

Unplug each cable at each end, one at a time, make sure the connection is clean then plug it back in again. Sounds like a (physical) connection problem somewhere.
