? I'm lost. What's with you guys on this?

It's pretty good advice for people who haven't ever tried to boil an egg, or who have tried but done all the wrong things....

Oh. Yeah, you may be right. Hadn't seen it in that light, since it's been at least 40 years since I viewed the phenomenon in first person....

Yeah, maybe that was a long shot. When I see a 780 words answer to the question "How to boil an Egg?", it kind of reminds me of two of Eugène Ionesco's short plays, Jaques ou la soumission and L'avenir est dans les oeufs.

Sorry if that sounded absurd, I can't explain...

>>It's pretty good advice for people who haven't ever tried to boil an egg, or who have tried but done all the wrong things...

Sorry, but this Delia chick got most of it wrong (even) about boiled eggs. She turned it into some kind of Lord of the Rings saga. She probably needs a GPS to make sure of her way to the washrooms. ;)

amazing how people get the wrong idea

the reason I put the post up was because I had been looking into how to boil an egg, yes that's correct "how to boil an egg"

was just amazed at how complicated it seems, and hence thought I would make the post about it.

Q. Why do the French only ever have one egg for breakfast?

A. Because one egg is an oeuf...

Bam! Shakes head... never mention you can't boil an egg on a dating site.

Shak,

A) - Put eggs in small pan.
B) - Cover them with COLD water.
C) - Bring it to a boil.

By the time water boils you will get a soft egg, 5 minutes later you will get a hardboiled egg. Try to guess the in between you like and adjust to your taste next time.

See this play [untitledtheater.com] to discover how mens who can boil eggs have a reputation of good provider and good lover, knowing all about production and reproduction.

See you next week for macaroni and cheese. ;)

OH! Is THAT why you're "Macguru'! *laughing s'more*

Btw, if you live at 7000 feet you can't use those figures and come out with eggs the way you think they will come out....

LOL! :)

>>7000 feet

Gosh, I never saw a hen fly so high!

Yes, water boils at lower temperature at high altitudes so you will need more time to boil an egg on top of Mt-Everest.

Oops! better bring a GSI alpine pressure cooker then, else I will have to wait 21 days before I can have chicks... ;)

Yup, according to Ionesco, since he admittely can't boil an egg, his family will soon force him to marry a perferct girl with three noses.

"Peeling hard-boiled eggs can be extremely tricky"

Amazing stuff, I shudder thinking of the damage I could have inflicted upon myself and others if I hadn't read that article.

That was quite helpful Shak, Thanks ;)

I'm serious here, with eggs, all I can do is make a 'scrambled' version of them. Yup. Scrambled. All Scrambled.

Now that I know how to boil them, why not try eating them? (ok, so how do I eat it again? use bread and butter? doh! maybe wife will know).

In Seven Years in Tibet [amazon.com] there's a description of drinking hot tea while it's still boiling, possible because the author was traveling at such a high altitude.

OMIGOD... What WOULD I do if I cracked my eggs by not waiting after taking them out of the fridge... what would my breakfast guests think of me?

I'm better off with my Ronco egg-whipper and frying up a perfect omelet, rather than taking the chance... [Whips Eggs Inside the Shell!] [amazon.com]

PS. Didja know its almost impossible to peel a FRESH hard boiled egg? Found this out on a farm after collecting my own breakfast.

How the **** would Delia know anyway ..she's been recently exposed for telling everyone for years that she did the amazing sandwiches for her husbands cricket club each week end ..and then had to admit that they actually came ready made from her local supermarket .....

Prefer my eggs raw anyway ..can cook very well...just prefer them raw is all ..
