Tim Berners Lee, the inventor of the WWW, today became Sir Tim.

Well done and well deserved because without his foresight and insistance on it being a free specification I can imagine most of us doing different things today.

Story here [news.google.co.uk]

Another British invention which has to be exploited by another country for it to work!
Make you own list and include sports such as soccer, rugby etc

Three cheers for Sir Tim!

Another British invention which has to be exploited by another country for it to work!

ouch - that's going to leave a mark.

The ability for it to be exploited, used, enjoyed or forgotten about was the whole reason for Sir T allowing it to be free (as in speech as well as in beer)

It's that freedom that allows us all to utilise (or not) it in whatever way we see fit. I see no exploitation by anyone or any country just a success story from an extremely talented individual that happens to be a Brit.

You didn't mention the cricket however - must be just about time for another Ashes series.

And I thought they just made a mistake and gave it to him because of the beer.
