So, parked in downtown Chicago at a meter. Didn't notice the "No parking Friday" signs.
I see the tow truck pulling out with my car out of the corner of my eye in the store. I come running out. Tow truck driver says "Sorry, can't put it down, gotta go get it."
I go to the towing place. Pay $125. See the same said tow truck driver. He says to me "That was pretty funny the way you came running out of the store." with a big goofy grin on his face.
I told him some things I may never again repeat in my life.
The worst: two of my poor employees had to take the train back to the office with a boatload of art supplies. :-(
went to a restauramt and came out and saw the clamp.
my fault, as parking is free after 8.30pm and I parked at 8.15pm
anyway 1 phonecall and £115 later ...
the Truck pulls up to release the clamp, and the guy taps on window asking if I can switch the engine off, at which point I say
"can you not SEE that i am watching TV right now, give me 5 minutes and I will switch it off"
sort of made the £115 a bit more bearable.
day bloody light robbery ...
Shak
I pulled behind a delivery van in a parking space, and let my dog go nuts for 15 minutes then went back to see my truck no longer there.
The delivery van had also gone, a the tree branch that it bent down when it parked had returned to its regular position and stopped covering the "loading zone" sign. :P
By the time I paid for a cab (plus the bribe to convince him to take my dog as well) to the impound lot on the outskirts of Nowhere, La., i was out of pocket about $185.
Most expensive "potty break" my dog ever took.
Put the dollar in the parking meter in the lot for an hour and went for a haircut. Was told that I had to wait 20 minutes before I could get one. Figured that I needed to run another errand, got the car from the parking lot ran the errand and came back in 15 minutes, got my haircut and came back.
Guess what, the meter was still under the hour I paid for (no fancy haircuts for me please) but the car was missing.
The moron had been sitting in the corner of the parking lot with his tow truck for a while, watched me pay, leave and towed me for not paying the second time over. Cost me about $50... most expensive haircut.
