You see, I had a really bad time in HS because I was different (at least until I figured out that they were as afraid of me as I was of them. Then it got a little fun. But that's another story for another thread ;) ) I always SWORE I wouldn't go to anything involving my wretched alma mater. EXCEPT...
There is this tiny, little piece of me that wants to go and show them up. It was (and still is) a rural, welfare poor town. Computers are beyond most of these people (as witnessed by the fact that the envelope address was hand written) and I would so love to go and tell them that I am a "dot commer". To them, that's something that only exists in San Francisco, New York and Never-Never Land.
While I know it's not really that glamorous, you have to admit there is a certain mystic about being an internet professional. Do you think capitalizing on the stereotype is bad? ;)
They don't even have reunions where I am from - most of the schools were single sex so they wouldn't be as fun ;) Have you ever seen Gross Point blank? Go just to see how everyone has got on - it'll be a very interesting place just to watch people.
Who knows you might be able to drum up more business?
It was a small class, too--56 of us.
I have organised a drinking game to play with another guy from highschool who doesn't want to go either.
As we are both bachelors without kids, everytime someone mentions kids, marriage, weddings, engagements etc we are both taking a drink.
Planning on getting very drunk by the end of the night.
Lesson: don't prejudge. Take things as you find them, and you'll probably enjoy yourself a lot more than you think you're going to.
