This may not be relevant here but I have a problem with email in Outlook 2002 that is driving me mad and I can't find a fix :(

Sometimes, when I am composing an email, the font type and size takes on a mind of its own. It changes when I hit a CR and sometimes a previously entered sentence or paragraph in the email will change its font/size. As far as I can remember this happens most often when I have cut and pasted information from another email.

Help anyone?

Turn off the auto-formatting options.

I don't use Outlook, but I'm guessing its very similar to the newer versions of Word, which assume your an idiot by default, and try and auto-format everything for you all the time.

You know, when word pops up with the message "Oh! I see you're writting a letter, do you want me to @#$%@#$% it up for you?"

At a guess, I'd say its the same syndrome.

(As a side note, just think what M$ will come up with when it unveils its "intuitive" search engine. "Oh, I see you're looking for documents with the term wheel in them, would you like to read an interesting story on the origin of fire?")

Sounds like a weird one. If what grelmar suggests doesn't work, also look at your font settings and reply formats (go to options > mail format > stationery and fonts)

Thanks guys! I'll try this but it may be a wee while before I know if it has worked.

To add to the other suggestions

> tools -
> options -
> mail format
> Uncheck "use MSword to edit e-mail messages " tick box

+ select HTML - much less likely to get in the way of things than word.
