I run all the above programs on my system just about daily and things used to be fine. However, these days I can hardly use my browser. Each time I open a new window it just hangs and hangs. I know it's something on my system, but how do I figure out what it is and remove it? I'm at a loss beyond the programs I'm already using.

do you have any toolbars installed?
if so, close all your toolbars, close ie, start ie again. if it does not help, it's not the toolbar.

Just some thoughts:

Make sure that all the definitions for those programs that you're using are completely up to date.

Additionally, you could check through the running processes (in task manager) and see if there are any odd ones you're not comfortable with (just simply doing a search on each .exe name will give you lots of info).

Furthermore, have you tried another browser? If it's just IE that's hanging try uninstalling and re-installing.

It's probably going to be a process of elimination - start with the simple things and go downhill from there.

Good luck,

Windows? If so, what flavor? I had a problem like that because scandisk needed to be ran, but, in XP, there isn't a scandisk. You have to open my computer, right click on the drive you want to run scandisk on, and then one of the property tabs has an option to run scandisk next time you start your system. Have you tried that?

Just google.

They are.

> just simply doing a search on each .exe name

That's a good idea. I'll try that and see what I find.

I run XP, I'll have to try that at lunch time. I forgot all about scandisk.

Thanks for the help, this is so annoying I'm dying to get it fixed.
