Interesting. I recommend the "camp follower" solution: send along however many opposite- or same-sex partners necessary to keep mission members on an even keel for the probable length of the mission. (Of course this begs the question of sexual maneuvering among a healthy sexually active heterogeny....)

NASA needs to read some decent "probability fiction" instead of reacting with pokers up their butts.
