by doing a spell check on the subject, and counting as spam anything that's not spelled right, we can eliminate all those stupid emails (which seems to be most of mine right now):

"Start making money right away. unreal xyjxpifwmr"

webdevsf,
Actualy there are programs doing this, but in a much much more sophisticated way - you have to teach them what you consider a spam and what not. Works almost 100% - sometimes some spam snakes in or something good is considered a spam, but generally I can say I solved the spam problem for me (I'm getting about 30-50 emails daily, with spam being about 70%).

I use free software called K9 (keir.net/k9.html) - works with Outlook Express. If you want to look for other antispam products, you can start searching for "Bayesian Spam Filter".

Cheers,
Soso

That's actually a good idea...except...the only problem would be with mail that you do want to get that has an invoice number in it...

What I'd love is better filters/spam handling in Outlook. Why can't I highlight a bunch of emails and right click to block all senders I've highlighted? Why can't I block HTML email? Why can't Outlook look at HTML email to find words that trigger the filter? GRRR!

Do you have to use Outlook? AFAIK there are bayesian filters that work fine together with Outlook.

webdevsf,
I consider it a good thing that the program allows you to teach him. How could he know if that greeting from a russian single is a spam or a fortune for you? :-)
