What have you done or bought that has improved the standard of living?

Me?

1. Hard disk recorder for TV so I don't have find video tapes anymore.

2. Moving to Brighton, UK. Lovely place to live with loads going on.

3. Patio heater - great for entertaining outdoors and everybody goes "Oooooo cool!"

4. Going Speed Dating. Boy, have I had fun doing that! So easy to meet people.

5. Following Michael Gerbers Emyth Principles in improving my business.

6. Getting shared email so admin person can help me!

7. Using template replies in Outlook. Program is called Email Templates. Saved me a whole load of time!

8. Getting Knowledge Base software so employees can look up answers instead of asking me all the time. Also great for finding information instantly myself.

There you go. That is my list. What about yours?

Jon

I minimized. Gave away anything of value, cut up the cards, spent all the cash, and put a few clothes in a backpack.

What a relief!

TiVo. It saves hours of my time.

And, um, cash usually improves my standard of living. Right now I'm in search of that, since I already have my TiVo.

I got married and had a kid! Well, financially, my standard of living may be a little lower (kids are pretty expensive and I don't get all the toys I used to), but life is a lot more interesting and worthwhile now :)

>kids are pretty expensive

Congrats, vgx. From experience, they don't get really expensive until they hit 14.

Convinced my other half to sell our gas guzzling, money-pit of a boat. Split the proceeds, he got a GSXR, I got a GMC Z71.

How did it improve my standard of living? Nicer ride, leftover money went into RRSP's. Wheelie man is never home, so I have full control of computer and TV..Yeehaw!

Bought a "flexi-peeler", I can now make potatoes without planning in 30 mins of peeling and 3 elastoplasts per potatoe.

Introduced my best mate to his current wife although admittedly I was trying to get her to date me at the time (helped his quality of life rather than mine but nice all the same).

Got a date with the above girls older, longer legged sister :o).

Moved out of parents house, staying there for 2 weeks over Christmas made me appreciate this soooooooo much more.

Got extremely drunk at the works christmas pub crawl and ended up on stage singing "Bat Out Of Hell" in a retro-bar, including Air-guitar and hand actions. Am now probably the most popular person on the site and permanently nicknamed Meatloaf.

Stayed great friends with the two women I have ever fallen in love with.

Sticking by my mates through thick and thin, you really do only get back what you put in.

Joining this forum helped me to improve my standard very much.
I'm just looking for a bigger appartment and things I could do prior to PubCon in Florida.

Got a Sirius satellite radio in my car. I get 60 channels of music 24/7 and no commericals. And there are 40 channels of news and talk (some with commercials, depending on source). I love it. Radio without commercials is worth the cost of the new radio and $12 a month.
