Here's a game for you all. The logo below is based on a logo we all should know. Let's see how obvious it is.

Logo [chrisfelstead.co.uk]

Please note: I am not going to mention the company name and I do have permission to post the logo from them for this purpose.

Better be careful... Microsoft has a patent on the visible spectrum.

Can I make a guess you are trying to see if anyone can tell you ripped it off before the company goes ahead and uses it? ;)

Alas no. The company has been using it for two years. I came in and said "hey! you ripped off the ....... logo". They said that no one would notice.

hmm... the answer

Microsoft Windows.

LOL - Does a bit.

IMO it is far enough from the Windows design to be taken in it's own merit. I quite like it - perhaps flick up the contrast and tinker with the tone to liven it up a bit. Less moody then.

So much is in the eye of the beholder, both limitations and possibilities.

Several of my own logos and/or icons are ripoffs of something I have found on the web. Then they have been changed so much that they could just as well be ripoffs of something else. Or original compositions.

Interesting observation, Brett. But some of those ancient symbols are more or less archetypal and it is very easy to come close to one of them with a logo if you do not specifically try to avoid it.
