My opinion about this is UN bureaucrats should stop playing God and get out of the way... I doubt they are smarter or can make better decisions than people in each country.

But regardless of one's opinion on the issue this is a poorly written article based on a couple flimsy quotes.

A belated welcome to WebmasterWorld, superpower. I totally agree and I hope to see more posts from you. But I have to add that a couple of those quotes are rather good. I especially like this one:

"I cannot fail to mention the importance of using the information society to maintain our planet's rich linguistic and cultural diversity," Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga told UN delegates in an address on Wednesday.

I watch the development ( = degeneration) in my own native language on the web with almost 100% pure disgust.
