Should I get this?

First of all, this is NOT some kind of shameless spam or anything.

Due to sleeping problems, I've been wanting to get a new bed for quite some time now. The only problem is: they don't come cheap. I just saw an ad on TV for Restform Airbed. It's cheap and it sure looks comfy. But all my instincts are screaming: TV AD ALERT! DON'T DO IT! Still...
So now I'm looking for reviews on this thing. But all I find in Google are shops where they sell it, not review sites.

So, does anyone know a good review site on this bed? Do you have any personal experiences you want to share? Should I buy this thing? Is there a better alternative?

Thanks for not falling asleep while reading this post. ;)

If you're having trouble, you probably want something better than average rather than the other way around. Try searching for mattress + ergonomics maybe.

Aside from that, mattresses are things you probably shouldn't buy over the internet or through catalogues, unless you've tried it out locally first. Just because someone else liked it, doesn't mean it will feel right for you.

From a fellow sufferer:

Do NOT buy any bed you haven't tried.

Go to every mattress store in area and lie on each bed for at least ten minutes. You will soon learn the type of mattress that is most comfortable. Then worry about cost. A good nights sleep is priceless.

I spent two weeks (not continuous!) lying around then ended getting the first one I had tried. I don't regret a second of the time or a penny of the cost.

This is the inflatible double bed thing, right?

We bought one for when we visit my sister and it was a total nightmare. Comfy for about 1 night max and then only if you're sleeping alone.

If you're struggling sleeping at the moment then I would not recommend this as a replacement for a real bed.

Hi Distel,

First of all, are you sure your sleeping problems come from your bed? A lot of things can bring sleeping problems and changing the mattress could be of very little help. Of course, if you can feel the springs, it's time to switch.

>>The only problem is: they don't come cheap.

Unfortunatly, here again, you get what you pay for. I had to cough up for an adjustable bed 2 years ago due to my back problems and the price was rather steep. Half the cost was in the frame. If you think the sleeping posture is not the problem, you can save that with a conventionnal frame and conventionnal mattresses. I was recommended by the chiroproctor to avoid any of these new latex or latex spring combo tops. The ones he knew about all caved in after a while.

If 600 $ is not too much money, go ahead, treat yourself with a high end pillow top mattress. You wont regret it.

If your wallet needs a break for now, you could extend your existing mattress life's by adding a " pillow top slip cover " or " add-on pillow top ", for about a 100 $.

Good night Distel

A normal person spends about 7-9 hours every day in bed, and the quality of your sleep affects your preformance for the rest of the day. So going for a high-end solution will pay off in the long run. When I switched I was able to add (almost) a full hour to my awake hours, that is 365 hours/year or almost 43 full working days, because I was able to fall alsleep faster, and since I woke up with more enegry in the morning. You can't find a good sleeping solution anywhere in Europe for less than 7000 EURO (about 6700 US I guess), but it is worth it. It is also smart to sleep alone, have seperate beds (preferly bedrooms) for you and your partner, and get a nice doublebed for your realtionship activites.

<snip>

Sounds, air quality, and light also affects sleep. I like to sleep in a pitch black room, without any sounds at all.
My sleeping room only has one bed, nothing more nothing less. My wife likes to read and watch TV in bed so she has outfitted her room differently.

Summa summarium: Do not buy the TV Restform Airbed, if you want to sleep on it yourself.
