A big plc company has just approached me offering to build me a site and within 3 days to have it listed above my present site on Google for a one word competitive search on which I have at present the no 3 slot. The price folks is £200 +vat and £10.00 pm.

High pressure salesman, who IMHO does not know what he is talking about (one of those who will not stop talking you know the kind, and done the course on how to close a deal fast.
This goes against everything I know and understand about Google that I have gleaned after many hours on this forum, and would you believe it he claims that they would not be breaking googles terms and it would be an organic white hat listing.

Now either they know something (Oh Yeah) we don’t or this is the biggest bunch of sales ******* ever and you know what I think, but you know I have been known to be wrong.

“If something is too good to be true it probably is”, but this is a PLC company offering this service which umm er should by all accounts mean rep!

I am putting this in Foo because I think that’s where it belongs.

had someone the other day "guarantee" he could get me a better listing in LS, plus all the other engines, too. Guess he didn't take the time to see where site was listed in G, ink, msn and Y

Golly, gee whillickers (sp?), I really really need him...

It is these snake oil salesman that make our jobs difficult at times. Gotta love high pressure sales.

Those high pressure salesman types really turn me off once I start to hear the high pressure close line he has lost me.

I agree with you stuntdubl the snakeoil salesman does the real seo's no favours at all, to most people it all sounds like muck and magic anyway.

If it was not for this place and what I have learnt here over the years I may well have signed up.

tell him unless he manually gets the bot ( by wither threatening , begging or do whatever it takes) to visit his site; he would be damn lucky to even get it to visit , much less show up in the SERPS or the "top 3" keywords. Definitely doesnt know what he is talking about.

Reminds me about Captain Kirk and Mr. Scott.

"How long for the engines to kick in Mr. Scott"
"20 minutes Captain"
"You got 10 Scotty"
"Aye Aye Capn"

Crew Member: "But How Mr. Scott?"
Scott: " It takes 5 minutes, i needed another 5 to work out any anticipated problems, so i told him 20"

So like if you told him it takes around 3 months, and reached somewhere in 1 month...hes gonna be very happy
