This would be a much better kind of testing than standard website usability. Stick a few test subjects in an MRI and somehow show them your website/product/offer. Then look at the brain's response and you know ahead of time whether you have a winnre.

According to this NYT story, it's already happening.

Measuring brand influence might seem like an unusual activity for a neuroscientist, but Montague is just one of a growing breed of researchers who are applying the methods of the neurology lab to the questions of the advertising world...

...the magic spot -- the medial prefrontal cortex. If that area is firing, a consumer isn't deliberating, he said: he's itching to buy. ''At that point, it's intuitive. You say: 'I'm going to do it. I want it.'

Good link, tedster. I've had an interest in the intersecton of neuroscience & marketing for a few years. What we really need is a peripheral that can hook up to a USB port...

Excellent link, Tedster - cheers!

Once upon a time I was a neurophysiologist and have been looking for ways to somehow hook up my previous life to my current one....

This could be the start of a beautiful friendship!
