Vatican currency?

And Italian currency for that matter

I'm planning a trip to Rome next year. I believe that historically that the Vatican has had its own currency, separate from the lira. Do they now use the Euro, like Italy?

Currency: 1 Vatican Lira = 100 centesimi
Note: The Vatican lira is on a par with the Italian lira and under the terms of the Concordat with Italy, Vatican currency is legal tender throughout Italy, and Italian currency is legal tender within Vatican City.

It's all Euro as far as I know... the Vatican brought out their own Euro coins with the Pope on the back of them.... quite a collectors item if you can get your hands on them.

Thanks for the additional info. I never realized that the Vatican had its own two letter country domain (makes sense of course, now that I think about it).

The virtual tour will be very useful in planning the actual one. I'm sure I could spend the entire vacation just inside the Vatican, but I've heard that there are also a couple of interesting places in Rome itself.... :)

Now if I could only make it to Venice in the week that I'm in Italy...

I was just in Italy on vacation in November last year, and yes you can spend a few days in the Vatican Museum and still not see everything. It is HUGE!
