I understand that mailservers are overloaded with spam and there appears to be a bottleneck.

Has anyone noticed some big problems with e-mail, especially today?

I did yesterday. Shortly afterwards I discovered that one of the hosting companies I use had a major backbone outage which took them out of the game for 2.5 hours.

I was not impressed :(

The domain that lives there is shortly going to be migrating to a more reliable climate!

The spam is still coming thick and fast and is probably more today than usual. How tiresome.

It's not one ISP i'm having trouble with, it's quite a number of ISPs unable to accept mail. It's DNS errors, timeouts and failed mail on the outgoing side and a general increase in spam and polling errors on the incoming side (ISPs reporting too many connections).

Help: Forget the RAC, send for Bicycle Repair Man!

Had my worse day for spam yesterday with emails relating to the Nigerian 419 scam

I received 2440 but the email server got hit with 112,000 emails all with random letters before the @ sign of one domain name

A virus is travelling the world with 100Kb emails as well:

I've seen quite a presence - it's like the biggie a couple of months ago - probably this is either the cause or a little extra spice.
