Basically, I have a win2k computer that stores all work for all machines in one place. Now everyone is used to using the Z:\, which is mapped on all machines that require it to access the work, and having all the stuff in a common place is great. But we've just hit the limit for connections to the win2k machine (10). How can I keep this common storage setup, but with more network connections?

Splurge and get Win2k Server. In Windows 2000 Professional, the maximum user limit is 10 regardless of the number you type in Allow. You can get around by this using an FTP Server with unlimited "anonymous" access or a web server, but its not exactly a shared network drive.

Free solution is to look into an install of Linux with Samba [duxcw.com]. Samba gives Windows workstations a mapped network drive on the Linux box. Two jobs ago, our network drive ran on Linux, but we all used workstations running Windows.
