Do you get perks?

I have an accommodation website. Mostly free listings. I hope it will make money "some day".
Now I've wrangled a trip to Sydney through my "day job" -- it's the first time I've left New Zealand even though I'm well into my 50's. So I tried to book with a couple of the listings. I've had one response back. It only mentioned normal conditions. I know they are heavily booked for the Rugby World Cup, but would people in my position normally expect some consideration?
My day job is also travel-related - I'm in a engineering division of an airline - so our staff travel clerk may do better for me.

I work with a hotel in the tropics and I receive free accommodation for any length of stay I like - the catch is I don't ask for any money for the work I do for the site - so I guess it works out to an almost even trade.

I treat the site as a hobby, cause I like the guy that owns the hotel and I LOVE the location.

Now there's a thought. Maybe I sift through my NSW listings for one close to Sydney without a website and offer a free one. Hosting for a year and design is worth a few nights.
