I did some modifications to the startup tab in the msconfig in XP. (especially unchecked the annoying MSN messenger starting up automatically). Everytime i restart, i get a window saying the system is in selective mode...enable normal startup etc...and when i close it, it opens the msconfig again...i wonder why?

Any pointers?
Thanks

msconfig is for trouble shooting. You need to put back what you took out and download powertoys from XP from the Microsoft web site. It allows you to do what you want to do.

I think you need to do this:

Start > Run > msconfig

Make sure that the Normal Start Up button under the General tab is selected.
