Mine: R.E.M - Harborcoat

This is a very early REM song. It brings back a lot of memories about travelling around eastern europe in 1997, when I had two or three cassettes with me for the trip and this was the song which was played most. I've never been able to go without listening to it for very long, even though my music tastes have changed drastically.

What about you? What is your favourite song ever and why?

Oh Oh....
I guess I am the only Dead Head here.

Followed the Dead through the mid 70's (perhaps that why I have so much trouble spelling). When Keith and Donna were "Playing in the Band".

If you were never touched by the Dead, then it's hard to explain or pick a favorite ......

Eyes of the World , Uncle John's Band, Brokendown Palace, Franklin's Tower, Iko Iko ....

All you got to do is smile, smile , smile

"Alternative Ulster" - a quick Google indicates it was probably by Stiff Little Fingers.

Favourite song - Knockin on Heaven's Door by Bob Dylan.

Currently:

Here Without You - Three Doors Down
Bring me to Life - Evanescence
Everything You Need - Madison Avenue
Freeek - George Michael
Wherever You Will Go - The Calling
Desert Rose - Sting & Cheb Mami

Why those? They keep me motivated and remind me of someone I miss.

(PS: there are too many songs out there that mean too much to pick just one!)

nvision: two of yours are on my list:

Bring me to Life - Evanescence (the whole cd is good)
Desert Rose - Sting & Cheb Mami

But I also have a thing for:
Boston
Robert Miles

Certainly there are more, but that's the short list.

The Song: Karen by The Go-Betweens

Reasons:

Lyrics - 'I wish I heard voices, wish I was a telephone' + works in references to Genet, James Joyce, Brecht, Chandler and even aludes to Kafka's The Castle + it's all about love and longing

Music - speeds up and slows down at will + epitomises the Golden Rule 'any more than 2 chords is just showing off'

I have many favorites but I like the song I'm listening to right now:

You Don't Love Me (No No No) by Dawn Penn

Because it is such a decadent reggae groove.....arghh it's so bad you can almost touch it!

Have a good weekend fellow WWers!

Just got home from a night out 'with the boys' [two babies sleeping like, errr, babies Nahlack].

What a GREAT song 'L.A. Woman by The Doors'.

Ok, Pished now, but the girls danced well, but great one.

Nighty night all.
