DO you have any High fiver's at your company?

We have several at mine. We have a large sales section and alot of the sales managers are big on high-fiving.

I find it to be really annoying. Esp. when they accuse me of 'leaving them hanging'

oh brother - I know exactly what type of people you are talking about.

I once told somebody that instead of them giving me a high five/thumbs up for a job well done that I would rather they put it in writing so I can use it in my salary negotiations. :)

>>sales managers

Tell them that closing a sale needs to be a regular occurrence, not a reason for celebration. :)

Can't remember which coach or player it was but with regard to players celebrating in the endzone after a touchdown with an endzone dance or by spiking the football, he had this to say,

"Act like you've been there before". I like that attitude.

Remember when Puddy was selling Seinfeld a car? Hilarious.

Doubles Tennis players = high five after every shot. Even when they lose.

Irritates the hell out of me.

I believe that was Bear Bryant.

Couldn't agree more.

Swing for their hand then slap them across the face as hard as you can - apologize profusely and explain about your screwed up hand/eye coordination from "the accident" - they won't bother you anymore.

Lawman - beat me to that one!

You're a salesman now - and the high-five is.. it's very grease monkey.

A friendly roundup so we all get it straight and can get along. :)
  • Ok, someone around here posted they hated the excessive use of the word, "that."
  • Brett posted somewhere that it made him cringe when people ended their post by saying, "I hope that helps."
  • weblamer2 hates "high fives."
  • I have a thing about being afraid to get into the Webmasterworld swimming pool on the weekends...

Anybody else?

weblamer2, next time they try to give you FIVE, hold you hand out and when they go to slap it, pull it back and say, "Psyche!"

..hope that helps that;)

Don't forget Lawman and the misquoted old adage.

lol - where I work anyone making like they were going to high five me would get a blank look and an sarky laugh. But then, I don't think anyone ever would, apart from if they were taking the mickey.
