Myth? Many Links Increases PR

My experience says its a myth

My small experience tells me that a few links (as few as 5!) from high PR sites is all you need to get a high PR.

Anyone else see this?

I always giggle when I read about people spending whole days trying to get more links.

One link can get you a PR9.

That is, one link from a PR10 site.

Google has as much weight on anchor text though - and lots of it, from external sources, helps.

My experience tells me it matters an awful lot. But it may depend on your market and what your particular keywords are. Whether you're in a competitive sector etc...

Links isn't just about PR though remember - people spend days getting inbound links also because it can bring targetted traffic (sometimes more than you'll get from a search engine).
