I was just wondering how can one estimate the number of webpages that are publically accessible on the web. People say G indexed 3/4th of the web etc...how wud one comeup with such statistics?

Hi Chndru,

Considering 97 % of the WebDesigners I met seem to do everything in the book not to get listed, and 99.90 % of them heard "Marketing" for the first time in their lives when they met me, and also considering that 70 % of SEO/SEM did everyting in the book to get banned from search engines, I would say Google indexed only .02 % of the Web. That is very impressive!

I feel better now, thanks for the question.

And even then it's mostly "adult related". Check this out, if you search "site:.com -wuiytiwy" you get all the .com's indexed by google. Now search "site:.com -adultword", watch the number of results returned shrink ;) There's a couple of other non-adult words that have a similar effect.
