Digital Video Camera Recomendations [cheap ones]

Something with decent picture quality, memory, and sound.....

Just looking for something for vacations, decent picture quality, records sound. Know nothing about memory storage on those things....Is it memory sticks, or the Sony style mini disks? Possible to get anything like this in the $500.00 renge?

I just bought a Sony DCR-TRV38. Paid $672 including shipping. Love it so far. I subsequently ordered another battery and a charger (about $85) and a video light (about $35). The bundle had all necessary cables except a firewire cable (4 pin to 6 pin) and that set me back another $10 at a local computer store.

I ordered it from place I found on zdnet.

I just placed an online order for 10 60-minute sony mini dv tapes for $42 delivered. Along with the 3 tapes I initially bought at Wal-Mart for $18, that $672 camera has cost me $832. :)
