tommorow i woke up and bang, nothing worked..
with few hours of work i see that i have BAD SECTORS on disk C. scandisk report a lot of bad sectors! when i try to access disk C and E (same disk,2 partitions) from DOS i got IO eroror, cant read etc.
good thing i had OLD D disk so i quickly instaleed win98 and adsl..i made D disk primary disk..but you would not belive how mcuh trouble i had when starting win 98..everything i did stupid win98 tried to look on E disk whcih had bad sectors in the "boot table" so i had CONSTANT loockups..
so i searched a lot of data recovery programs and nothing worked..no program could even start as theya could not read C and E disc!
so then by accdient i stumbled across prgoram HDD regenerator.guys, although this might sound as add but this proigram is AMAZING! i run it and it REPAIRED ALL BAD SECTORS! i mean it repaired bad sectors - other programs could not even READ these sectors yet even repair..but this program - sector by sector it reparied..
so drive C REAPERED and all is there ..but after 3 days of SLOWLY fixing bad sectors my E drive reapared and there are no lock ups anymore...
but what i see? all the strangre letters and directories..everything unreadable...20GB of data...
so i tried many data recovery programs.
only thing that worked is Virtuallab but they want online payment for recovered data..their program FOND most of things on my hard drive so it is still there (although mixed in directories)..
so can anyone recomend me any good programs that will "rebuild" drive or recover lost data or fix the FAT or boot or drive so it will become readable...what are you using? it does not to be freeware - i only need it is demo so i can try it...
any help will be appreaciated.. one more time -i fixed bad sectors , now what i see is tons of listing of files and directores with STRANGE and long filenames...disk had bad sectors EXACTLY where it is boot or fat inforamtion so that is why this mess...
so more than unerase tool i need REBUILD or reconstruct disk tool of some kind..
thanks,
JOn
PS: with every crash i tell myself i will make backups but i dont ..damn..next time i promise:)
I was using XP pro and a had a Western Digital 120 Gig hard drive.
Ever since my last crash I have learned to use yahoo as my main mail service and to store some important documents.
I still want to set up something that has 3 30 gig hard drives. One of which is on my laptop and everything else would be synced nightly. Is there any software that can do this?
