That's the benchmark. In that 'feel', what else should I be searching for this evening?

(just to add a twist: Already on the list are the kings of leon and NWA heh!)

What's that? I don't have a clue. You mean T.D. Jakes?

How about the soundtrack to the movie "The Commitments". Strong soul and R&B.

If you can track it down there's an artist named Chris Lizotte. All his albums are good but Soul Motion is absolutely unbelievable. He calls the music Texas Blues.

Oh man Nick, that's one of my favorites (dependng on who sings it of course).

Selects from the Soundtrack from the Commitments:
Mustang Sally, Take Me to the River, Chain of Fools, Destination Anywhere, I Can't Stand the Rain, In the Midnight Hour.

Additional motown suggestions: Just My Imagination, Lean On Me, ABC, Ain't No Sunshine, Dance To The Music, Everyday People, Feel Like Makin' Love, I Heard It Through/Grape, I Want To Take You Higher, I Wish It Would Rain, It's In His Kiss, La La Means I Love You, Love Is Like A Heatwave, Love Train, Papa Was A Rollin' Stone, Please Mr. Postman, Respect, Rockin' Robin, Shop Around, Superstition, Stand, Treat Her Like A Lady, Uptight (Alright), Way You Do The Things, You Can't Hurry Love, Your Love/Lifting Me

Now, are you listening to them on the web someplace?

NWA: Guess it's not North Western Airline you're talking about. The band I know with that name doesn't have much in common with songs such as Preacher Man...

Boy what a can of worms Nick!

>Dusty Springfield I believe

I would class that version as "white soul", if you agree and were looking to build a playlist around it I would lean towards country music.

If on the other hand you were looking for proper music, music from the soul, where the words and emotion expressed are more important than a snappy beat, then I would look at:

Ruby Winters - Better

Major Lance - You Don't Want Me More

Edwin Starr - Any record you like, ended up living in Nottingham and sadly passed away this year, what a voice! If you only choose one record then choose I have faith in you.

Mel Britt - She'll come running back

If you search for Northern Soul you may see the truth path to happiness and contentment:)

The soundtrack for "Snatch" has a lot of great stuff on it, if you liked the Lock Stock soundtrack.
