The registered Democrat, civil libertarian and free speech advocate said he'd solve California's budget woes by expanding slot machine gambling. His holdings include several casinos.

Nice.

I'm just surprised Angelyne is still alive. I grew up with her on billboards all over the L.A. area.

Larry Flynt - well, at least he doesn't lie about what he does, which is more than we can say for most politicians. He really isn't the healthiest of guys though.

Too true, especially in California!

Hey, I don't have anything against the guy, but the title "Free Speech Advocate" is a bit of a "fuzzy" sort of description of him, isn't it? hehehehe

And I've got to wonder what he's thinking here... I can't help but think perhaps revenues are down for his "media empire," and he's out looking for some press coverage to boost sales. It's not like he has a chance of winning, or is even capable of doing a legitimate, credible job of building publicity for a "real" third party.

It's not like he has a chance of winning...

Umm, Minnesota got Jesse Ventura- and his life story had never even been made into a popular Hollywood movie.

Or, consider this: If a convicted car thief can become an elected state official and engineer a recall election, an Austrian movie star seriously floated to run for governor, and a wrestler can get elected governor in Minnesota... Then I'm willing to suspend my disbelief and entertain the possibility that a <quote>free speech advocate<unquote> can run for and get elected governor of California.;)

Pretty weird...

I'd give him good odds in a more *ahem* relaxed culture. Not the US though.

I'm just happy the Jerry Springer has decided NOT to run for US senate in Ohio (he had submitted the paper work but pulled out of the race today). We'd be the laughing stock if he had kept it up.

Guess what? Arnold Schwarzenegger just announced [bayarea.com] that he's running for governor, too.

"I will pump up Sacramento," the former bodybuilder and "Terminator 3" star said on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

But I don't want to be pumped up!

Would have loved to see political rallies if Jerry Springer had run. Fascinating race coming up in California:

More here... [baynews9.com]

Socialite-turned-columnist Arianna Huffington [ariannaonline.com] threw her hat into the California gubernatorial recall race earlier Wednesday while talk show host Jerry Springer announced he would not run for the U.S. Senate in Ohio.

I thought I had heard today the Huffington's now gay ex-husband had planned on running too. Boy, would that make this race a good cat/dog/mouse/and pony fight. :)

Even though my political views are sometimes different from Arianna Huffington's, I really admire her intelligence. I would *love* to see a debate between her and Arnold. What great fun! Interesting too that Maria Shriver is a Democrat. I want a peek at her ballot.

You think Maria Shriver (of the Keneddy Clan)
woud have it written in the pre-nup, that he
could only run for the Democrats.

Im just waiting for Saturday Night Live or Mad
to take a Arnold election ad of Terminator 2004
or should we call it Total Recall 2

Arnie is ready for all that. I saw a new clip of him when he was turning in his papers for running. Can you guess what he said with a big smile? "I'll be back"

To tell the truth, I really don't know what the big fuss is about. It's not like he is the first Hollywood star to become a politician. It's almost like everyone has forgotten the Ronald Reagan started out as a Hollywood Hottie. Now, some Republicans revere him as the greatest president ever.

governator is the man .:)

his slogan:
[gongoozler.com...]

on the funny site, here are possible newspaper headlines:

Arnold is the Running Man

Well, that and several other cheesy headlines:

Total Recall
(quite possibly the headline in either the Post or the Daily News, or both, tomorrow)

Arnold Seeks to Terminate Davis

No Gray Area: Terminator Is Running

And then, during the campaign...

Arnold Accuses Davis of True Lies

Can He Jingle All the Way to Sacramento?

And if he wins:

Voters Pump Arnold Up

And if he loses:

Terminator Terminated

And if he loses, but hints he might run again in 2006:

Arnold: I'll Be Back

Ronald Reagan started out as a Hollywood Hottie

And Eva Peron started out as the voice in a toothpaste ad on the radio.
