I like several different coffees, but I tend to make a lot of Jamaican Blue Mountain, ground so fine that it is almost powder. Lots of sugar, no cream.
Good God is it Friday yet...?
Fine grind is definitely the way to go. But too bad you're hiding that great flavor behind all that sugar...Cream, no sugar, thank you
too bad you hid that great flavour behind that cream ;)
God created coffee black for a reason folks :) I'll take mine straight up and strong and I'll take it several times a day if it's handy.
I forgot the one kind of coffee I really do like:
B-52.
I don't remember what's in it. It's a specialty of my boyfriend's mom at late-season Bills games when it's -10 degrees and you're freezing your butt off in the bleachers.
Cointreau is involved. I don't remember what else. Kahlua? Bailey's? good things that warm the heart and stir the soul.
I don't drink that at work, needless to say. The twits actually put "no alcohol" in the personnell manual! Fuhgeddaboutit, I shoulda known the job was trouble right from the start.
Two to three cups, creamer no sugar. Could drink it all day frankly, hot or iced. Google mug, tall mug or fancy pottery mug, switch on and off every day, 'cause I love collecting coffee cups almost as much as drinking coffee.
First taste of coffee in the morning makes the day a whole lot better.
Went up to a tree-hugger mountain resort in a national park a few weeks ago. That shade grown stuff is all they had. Jeez, that stuff is weak --you'd need expresso to be able to get a decent kickstart out of it! I stopped the cabin-service gal and asked her to triple-up on those little brew paks because I was going to have to snort the grounds.
Maxwell House! Nearly black and 1/4 of a packet of sweet-n-low in 20oz.
The last time we went through this whole rigmarole I remember that Xoc told us about some bizarre sounding coffee alternative...try as I might I can't find that old thread. Anyone remember what that drink was? Better yet, where's that thread?
No regular caffeine at all, just once in a while at the occasional special meal dining out. I go through lots of water, filtered or sparkling, over ice.
RC - watch out for those pink packets, they'll kill you.
It also tastes best if you're sitting inside a cabin on a building site, when you've been rained off work. Or maybe it was the "not working" bit that I liked best about that experience.

All "shade grown" means is that it's grown in the shade, which is as much an environmental issue as it is a quality one. You can grow more than one variety of coffee bean in the shade, just like you can grow more than one type of tomato in a hothouse, and more than one variety of corn in an open field... (The drying and roasting techniques also do more than a little for the flavor and quality of the end product too. ;) )

You don't drink coffee, rc. You drink liquid caffeine that happens to be burnt-coffee-bean flavor. hehehe
"DRINKING three or more cups of coffee a day can almost halve the risk of cirrhosis of the liver, according to a new study in Norway." Article in todays Times here [timesonline.co.uk].

This is true. You ever eat whole coffee beans just before you put them in the grinder? My preference is 2 or 3 French Roast beans masquerading as a throat lozenge. You have to be careful though, or people will think it's chewing tobacco.
My REAL preference are the little bags of chocolate-coated coffee beans. I've been known to get into some serious caffeine abuse with those, at which point I become a threat to humanity until the buzz wears off.
BTW, it was in your neck of the woods that I first got into serious trouble with those. There they deal them out in public, too, right at the supermarket checkout.
I'm here to tell you, you haven't seriously OD'd on caffeine until you rip the jacket off a couple of those bags and start downing them by the handful.

Oh lord... those things are EVIL aren't they? (But they're all made with those weak Arabica beans you don't like. hehehehe)
Now that you've brought it up, I think I might try making some at home next time a bean order comes in... just a couple days now... got a big bag of Ghiradelli chocolate chips in the cupboard...
