My folks PC (winXP) is a nice little machine but has a very irritating glitch. When the PC boots up the McAffee 'about dialogue box' stays on the screen for about 3-4 minutes.
The PC has finished booting up the other essenstials by the looks of things but the damn banner lurks there for no apparent reason.
Opening other programs is not a problem but when you close them the Mcafee banner has kind of 'screen captured' whatever was running on top. Then finally it finishes what ever it was doing and b*****s off.
Can any one give me (my parents) a tip to speed up Mcaffee or remove the about dialogue box for the screen on startup

Right click on Vshield in the systray.
Go to properties.
Once there you have startup/on access/shut down options. Play around there. Hang time on load is normaly around 10 seconds. You can turn off say scan floppy on start up and shut down, leave it on for "on access". It things like this that will cause hang time.
